What’s your favorite thing about Chi-AWE?

I love the opportunities that Chi-AWE provides for their community, especially their involvement with highlighting AAPI designers through the annual Chicago Asian Fashion Show. It’s important to grow the local fashion scene and emphasize cultural pride, ethical practices, and support aspiring designers.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I used to be a professional hip-hop dancer! My love for dance and fashion has lead me to where I am today; designing and creating costumes for Chicago Bulls Entertainment.

At home with my adorable toddler or in my sewing studio.

Melissa Familara works at the Chicago Bulls as the Costume Designer and Coordinator. She graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design in New York City.
