Lucy and Charlie's Honeymoon
An interview with Harmony Zhang (aka "Bao") about this hilarious and AAPI-centric musical, currently playing at Lookingglass Theatre until July 16th, 2023
Fun Facts about Harmony:
1. She plays the piano, the drums, and she can sing! She hits all her notes in the show - you should give a listen.
2. She’s been working with Pui Tak Center in Chinatown for years
3. She’s married and lives with her husband and two cute cats!
4. She’s one of the sweetest and graceful people you’ll meet, but you will get to see her super spunky hidden self through her character if you watch the show ;)

“Lucy and Charlie’s Honeymoon” is a hilarious musical portraying wild outlaw AAPI heroines, AAPI men who vulnerably and openly embrace their softer side, and AAPI immigrants who don’t take anyone’s sh*t! It’s a story I’ve never seen and one I think every AAPI person should watch” - Victoria Ng, Executive Director, Chicago Asian Women Empowerment
It was great to see a musical that I resonated with from my Asian American background. Their first song describes themselves as first-generation Asian American renegades. Their parents had a lot of expectations for them but they ended up on a different path. As a child, my focus was doing well in school but now as an adult, I'm doing things my child self never thought she could've done. This was such a fun musical, not only because of the messages shared (like not wanting to be only seen as Chinese) but also because the cast both sang and played instruments!! I'm so glad to support a fellow Chicago Asian Women Empowerment member, Harmony Zhang, in her performance as the character Bao 宝!
